Some basic facts incorrect
"Stem cell prof..." So the other two guys aren't profs? Well, if you can be bothered to google, yes they are.
So why the singular? Not British prerhaps? Not so. Prof. Smithies was born in Halifax - that's Halifax as in W.Yorks, not Halifax as Nova Scotia or Queensland. So perhaps it's because they don't work in Blighty? Funny sort of discrimination.
Big Science fanboyz/girlz ought to show their heroes some respect.
