I'm with Big Tone..

It's so simple !

The "causes of crime" are the freedoms that permit people to do bad things.

Do away with the freedoms and people can no longer do bad things.

Why has no-one thought of this before....?

Oh, excepting Stalin, Saddam Hussein, Idi Amin, Bob Mugabe..

I think there's a pattern here......

'Personalised approach'

'Well normally son this sort of thing would get you a £50 fine, but because your eyes are too close together I'm gonna double that.'

Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition

'They would include more summary powers such as on-the-spot fines and would reflect a "personalised approach" that targeted the "offender not the offence".'

Real world: You start with a crime, investigate, catch a culprit and prove this with evidence before a judge. The role of police in that state is to prevent and prosecute crimes ranging from serious to minor crimes.

Surreal World: You start with a person, see what crime you can arrest them for, then lock them up for it. The role of the police in that state is to prosecute people they dislike, ranging from strong dislike to least dislike.

The second one is a lot easier to do, especially with all the new subjective, conflicting & discretionary laws we have. SUS?

I'd vote for Judge Dredd

We need more police on the streets with the ability to deal with crime as they come across it.

Let's see how much crime* we see when we have squadrons of death-dealing Judge Dredd types patrolling the streets.

Who do I speak to in order to apply for that kind of job?

* According to current legislation rather than any new ones la-buh can come up with

We all know what this nu-lab speak actually means

We all know what "preventative interventions" actually means don't we ?

Instead of applying punishment for comitting crime, we are to see yet more laws allowing us to be punished without comitting a crime - accusation is eveidence enough. Simple really, do away with all that bothersome collecting of evidence malarkey - lets just re-introduce the linch mobs, but in their modern nu-lab form with targets and incentives.

Forget Judge Dredd...

Go for Judge Death..

"All crimes are committed by the living, therefore living should be made a crime"

Export the criminals

Thinking about this, can't we use our extradition treaty with the US to our advantage? Maybe set up some kind of office over there to have our British criminals sent over there?

It worked however many years ago with Australia... I suppose the most important risk with this strategy is; do we want American's beating us at cricket?
